When you are you staying at a Hilton Head vacation rental property and looking for something to do, often one asks if there is riding a horse on the beach. While we don’t have that option on the Island, horseback riding in the Low Country is a long standing tradition dating back to the times when the horse was the only means of transportation and agricultural progress.
The tradition lives on today, as many of our Hilton Head rental property visitors love the chance to be able to climb aboard and take a quite relaxing trail ride through the tall southern pines and the moss-draped canopies of the live oaks. There are several locations for which you can admire and ride horses in our area and by far the largest and most robust of those is the Lawton Stables in Sea Pines Resort. With many horses for you to admire (especially the extremely sweet and photogenic Harley the Clydesdale) and ride, as well as a petting zoo of many types of animals and they also offer wagon/carriage tours as well as pony rides and private lessons. Others include the Stable at Moss Creek, Rose Hill Equestrian Center and Rose Dhu Creek.
